I work for an online SAT prep company. We launched recently but our product hasn’t taken off. Any ideas?

We’ve had some sales and marketing difficulty. For one, we haven’t figured out the best marketing strategies to drive people to our site. Second, we haven’t been able to convert prospective clients into customers.

That said, I’d like to get some insight from Yahoo Answers! experts on how I can help to drive business.

To let you in on a little more about our company, we offer a video-based online test prep service. We have hundreds of video lessons and explanations to help students with their Math, Critical Reading, and Writing development. Currently, we offer SAT and PSAT courses. Also, from our research, we’ve found that the the target customers are high school parents and students.

Thanks for your help!

I am not sure if I can give you the exact answers you may be looking for with out knowing more.

One of the things I like to understand is what have you done in the past, what worked and didn’t and why.

What also concerns me is the fact that it sounds to me that you are marketing, with out a strategy behind it or any objectives to achieve. To me this would be like playing the super bowl without any goal posts and is most likely has a lot to do with your conversion results.

Many business approach marketing and strategy development, like climbing a ladder, starting at the bottom and working it up. My suggestion would be to start at the top and work it back.

What I mean by that is first understand the objectives you want to achieve, see it in your minds eye. Who are your customers, why are they your customers etc. Then work your plan back step by step till you get to the beginning.

Once laid out, stick to it and review the results regularly. Don’t worry you will have some problems to overcome, but remember, problems are nothing more than opportunities in disguise.

    John
