Here’s a new twist to the YourTrafficStarterBlog.  This post is the first in a series of three.

When you complete this series you will know exactly why targeted website traffic is so important, why I blog about, and why I make this commitment to you.  So let’s get started…

Naturally, I wasn’t born in an online computer age.  When I was born, telephones were just barely becoming a “non” luxury, and computers were just something that big companies and the military dealt with.  The computers of my youth were massive.  Regular people didn’t even imagine having one on their desk.

Throughout my young school years, there was no such thing as targeted website traffic, and no one worried about how to increase blog traffic. Hell, blog wasn’t even a word!

Sure, I thought about being a scientist, or an engineer.  I really enjoyed things like mathematics, biology, and things related to engineering.  I good grades in all those technical subjects.  But I never thought about being able to run an online business.  There’s another word that didn’t exist — online!

In the lower middle class neighborhood that I grew up in, lovely Wheaton, Md, it was difficult just to imagine going to college.  So that was my dream.  Get to college, not search after targeted web traffic.  My parents barely had enough money to keep the house, and feed 7 crazy kids.  I knew they would not be paying for me to go to college.

I got focused on finding a resource for getting to college.  I ultimately started applying for things like ROTC and the military academies.  I needed a real scholarship, because student loans just weren’t going to cover the costs.  So ultimately, I won my scholarship, and the Navy took me through 4 years of Tulane University.

Not bad for the ‘poor boy’ from Wheaton.

But there still weren’t any computers!  Still no need to ever think about targeted web traffic.  Calculators were just coming into common use, and they were very, very expensive.

I was a mechanical engineer major for one semester.  They tried to teach me FORTRAN (do you know what that is?).  I really blew it!  Too much partying in the French Quarter, and terrible study skills put me in academic and scholarship hack!

So I changed majors.  I thought biology would be easier — NOT!  What a fool.  Well, I managed to survive, and learn some real study skills and I made out of Tulane University – barely.  I used to have dreams that I didn’t really complete my degree, and that the school issued my degree by mistake

Once I graduated, I was obligated to the Navy, and off I went to do my 4 years of required payback service.  But still — no need for targeted web traffic.  When I left Tulane, the were just putting desk top work stations in the computer lab.  Not desk top computers mind, just monitors that were very clunky, even by our standards then.

So that was my start, on my way to my career as an online entrepreneur desperately in need of targeted website traffic.  Do you see the connection?…
