My site is hosted by HostGator. I installed WordPress 2.8.4 per your instructions above in “WordPress” subdirectory. But unfortunately I must have slipped into a time warp that made this Friday the 13th cause all I get when I try to go to my blog URL is a list of the directory files.
If I manually click on “index.php” in ‘root’ directory I get a blank screen. If I go to “wp-admin” subdirectory and click on “index.php” the login screen shows up. After logging in if I click view site, another blank screen appears and I have to start over.
I suspect this is not supposed to work this way but I can’t figure out how to get around this stick-shift method. Can you help, please.
If something “goofed” in the load, the first thing I always do is delete the install, and then just go back to cpanel and re-install with Fantastico.
If you are comfortable inside see cpanel and know how to delete the database it made with the MySQL functions, then do that.
But if none of that works, Host Gator will do the install for you for free. They have always taken care of me.
They even transferred 10 databases for me from another host, no questions asked.
So, try doing what I said, if you are comfortable with cpanel. If not, simply call Host Gator, and they will do it for you.
