Does an increase in targeted website traffic and visitors really have anything to do with social bookmarking? You be the judge.
The purpose of social bookmarking sites is to provide a space where you can collect your personal bookmarks and share them easily with your friends. It is a very simple concept.
For you and your desire to market a product online, this can translate into targeted website traffic coming to you for nothing.
Using social bookmarking has two effects:
1. Targeted traffic from visitors clicking your saved links
2. Targeted visitors from search engines as your site moves up in relevance from using social bookmarking.
Quickly, how does the targeted traffic come to you?
Just like on sites like Twitter and Facebook, social bookmarking sites like stumble upon, delicious, and digg not only let you post bookmarks, but they also let you mingle, post a profile and make friends.
By using good headlines and titles for your link posts, you attract peoples interest. With keyword phrases properly placed in your titles, you are easily searched and found by targeted visitors that are looking for what you have in your niche.
So if you are using the social bookmark site to connect directly with others here are a few quick tips to enable you to attract highly targeted website traffic:
a. Complete your profile with a picture. If your socializing, people want to know YOU.
b. “Wonder” around the site. Make friends. Have relevant conversations. The more people you know, the more prominent your bookmarks become in the site, and then the more clicks you get.
c. Be certain you submit to the appropriate category or categories. If your not sure what categories to use, look at similar posts from other marketers and use the same categories as them.
d. Make sure you use interesting headlines, just like writing articles and emails. The key here is still to capture the audience attention, and make them want to click!
e. Most sites ask for a brief description. Don’t lie or mislead to get a click. If you are not true to your description, they will just leave your site when they get there. Make sure the audience finds what they are expecting.
In the next post, I’ll cover how to apply this to your SEO techniques that will help you gain position in the search engines.
