I’ve covered what search engine optimization is earlier posts, so I won’t repeat all of that here. If you read the any of these posts on SEO and search engine traffic, you know that not doing any search engine optimization when I first started was one of my BIG mistakes.
If you want to leverage off the tons for free targeted traffic directly from the search engines – and who doesn’t – then you need to include search engine optimization. It makes all the difference for your blog or website being found, and being valuable to the right people.
Search engine optimization includes:

2. How to do keyword research
3. Why things like keyword density are important
4. What is keyword prominence
5. Site construction to be search engine friendly
6. Linking strategies
7. On-page SEO
8. And much more…
I am sure that list looks complicated… and it can be if you don’t use the proper resources to learn how to make it easy. You need to know these things above and more, and you can.
You don’t have to be a techno geek to implement all the right elements of SEO to maximize your ability to capture search engine traffic. There is only one place I know where you can learn this from and expert, who knows exactly how to teach a 5 year old – like me – search engine optimization.

We’ve talked about SEO and search engine traffic before. But like when I was in the Navy, we emphasized repetition of skills and basics to make advanced tactics work the impression of ease. This is a long post, but I didn’t want to break it up. I am going to violate “the rules” and overwhelm you with content. So let’s get started with a closer look…
Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a term widely used by anyone trying to make money online and build a real online profit machine. All of you know that search engines are the most common place for people to go to find the online information they want so bad. And if you are on the first page of the results, you are front page news to the searcher.
It’s not a secret that most people rely on the top ten results (the first page) of the search they just requested. If your site comes up on a desired search in the top ten, then WHAMO you get FREE targeted web traffic straight from the search engine. You didn’t pay a dime!
So I will state the obvious in case it didn’t sink in: You and your website or blog have a bazillion times higher chance of being clicked if you appear on the first page of the search engine results. And this traffic is COMPLETELY targeted for you – if you did your SEO correctly.
Are you still following me? Now this is a fact, once you are there (on the first page results) you must hold on to your ranking. You cannot, and will not stay on top if you don’t keep your website up-to-date and optimized.
What people search for changes over time, and how search engines search also changes. Plus, new players constantly enter you niche! It is imperative to make your site better and better everyday.
Are you still questioning whether you need to use search engine optimization? Well, I’ll give you my bottom line: You need Search Engine Optimization if you want to maximize profit and keep your costs low. Ignore it and you’ll pay through the teeth. It’s that simple. It’s your choice.
With a solid search engine optimization effort, you get the benefit of “magically” attracting high volume targeted traffic. Using the best choice of keywords and keyword phrases you can get hundreds of visitors a day to your blog or website.
If you only convert 1 or 2 percent of these free, highly targeted visitors, you will still be making a profit – remember, you didn’t pay for these buyers. They found you because you did your SEO basics correctly – up front, not as an afterthought.
So what else is SEO? It’s using the right methods, and employing the right tools to keep your blog or website on the first page of the search engines. Now here is another fact: it is neither impossible nor highly difficult. Just get the right knowledge and tools.
In an earlier post, I showed you a method for finding keywords that can get you lots of traffic and put you on the first page of Google in record time – even in the most competitive niches. It’s back in the section about creating content. I hope you paid attention. If not, go back and re-read it.
Getting there and then in the top half, and then staying in the top half guarantees targeted viewers become targeted traffic in high numbers.
If your content is good, they become very loyal and very much, paying followers.
As you start learning your necessary – even mandatory – search engine optimization skills, there is one way I know to start your blog site on automatic. If you are building a blog – and you should be (remember the this post?) then you must get this plug in now. No excuses, it’s free and it works…
For the fruits of your efforts to “search engine optimize” you have to learn the basics and then maintain an ongoing effort. Your site has to change as public focus changes and as the search engine mechanics change. Your keyword phrases must be updated and your content must be refreshed.
Periodically rewriting your site content with the updated keywords and adjustments for change in search engine activity will be a big part of your site getting to the top and staying there. The rules will change and so must your blog or website if the targeted free traffic is to keep coming.
So lend me your ear, and take note of this fact: you don’t have to be a technical expert, or computer whiz to learn enough SEO to keep your blog and target for tons of web traffic. The single source I know works for everyone is by a SEO expert that knows more about making it easy than anyone I know.

Before I ever learned how to do web site promotion and drive targeted traffic to my blog, I knew nothing about keywords other than people use keywords to search for things.
In fact, as I sat in my little corner in my apartment, at my cluttered desk and tried to figure out what I should be writing about I was completely clueless as how poor I was doing. As I worked furiously on my small laptop, I had no idea about using keywords, keyword phrases, and creating focused, relevant content.
Now, I am focused and very relevant, and I know what keywords and long tail keyword phrases to use for driving targeted website traffic to my blog without doing anything but writing.
Here’s the secret:
- Research your keywords or keyword phrases first.
Easy – right? But do you need a fancy, expensive SEO keyword analysis tool?
Absolutely NOT.
If you are just beginning, go to SEO Keyword Suggestion Tool. It is the easiest tool I have found to use. In fact, it was recommended to me by a top internet marketer.
What do you do?
Just think of keywords or phrases you would use to search for products in your niche. If you sell dog insurance, then use terms related to dog insurance. Then see what terms come up. It will give you more suggestions.
Then go to the column that says “Adwords Keyword Tool” and click that to get even more recommendations.
Type your selected keyword or phrase in the window, leave “Use Synonyms” selected. Enter the captcha. Then click “Get Keyword Ideas.”
Then sort your search by “Approx Search Volume” by clicking on the column header that says the same.
Now you can select the terms you want. Look for terms with more than 1,000 searches a month and with the lowest competition (that’s shown in the column that says “Advertiser Competition”). Pick three you want to use.
Now select the one keyword phrase you want to blog about the most. Write content relevant to the keyword phrase.
Create a minimum of 4 posts in a row using the same keyword phrase as your focus keyword.
Now you’ve done it! You got your keyword phrase to use, and (by default) you are writing relevant content.
So what are you waiting for. Get your Wordpress blog rolling now. Targeted website traffic is dying to hop on your content and come to your website promotion.
Now keep it up. Blog at least 3 times a week (more if possible). You are relevant.
Targeted traffic is the life blood of any website. Everyone accepts that. Yet, many people struggle to find the key to unlock floods of traffic to their website and eventually give up trying. The failure rate in any new business is high, but in internet marketing it is catastrophic. The main cause of this failure is the lack of targeted website traffic.
You can easily overcome this by taking a few simple steps that will guarantee to increase the number of visitors to your website. You can do this without pay-per-click or other forms of direct advertising and the tools you need to do this are free and readily available.
If you are not using these techniques now, start today!
Search engines need to know what your site is about in order to send targeted traffic. And you need to know what people are actively searching for so you can build pages using keywords people search for. Free tools to help in your research are available from Google, Wordtracker, SEO Tools and others. Just do a Google search and you’ll find lots of help.
2. Make sure your power keywords are in your meta tags.
There is some debate about whether meta tags are as valuable as they once were. But why take the chance. Give yourself the edge and make sure your meta tags are keyword rich but don’t include a hundred keywords – this will end up harming rather than helping you.
3. Exchange links.
[DFR::neurolinker-9829|align_left_1]Make sure you only exchange links with sites that complement and add value to your own product/service. You can easily find thousands of potential partners by googling. If your website is about dogs, Google for: dogs “link exchange”. If you engage in indiscriminate link exchanges it probably wont bring you any extra traffic and the search engines may actually penalize you.
4. Join and use forums.
Find forums that are related to your product or service and introduce yourself. Make appropriate comments but do not use blatant advertising. Most forums don’t permit it except in specified sections. By making helping suggestions, answering questions and including your website in your signature you will begin to build a presence and attract targeted traffic to your site
5. Submit your site to directories.
This is an obvious method that is often overlooked. Submit other pages in addition to your main landing page. The more pages you submit, the more links and the more potential targeted traffic. Do not submit the same page to the same directory more often than once each month.
6. Ask your visitors what they want.
Post a survey on your site to find out what your current visitors are looking for. This can even be done with a pop-up. When you find out what they want, try to give it to them. Chance are other people will be searching for the same things.
7. Write and submit articles.
[DFR::article-marketer-3935|align_right_1]This is a time proven method of getting free targeted visitors. Share your knowledge with others and they will often visit your site. Include links to your website in the article’s resource area and submit your article to as many directories as possible. You can do the submission yourself, use software to ease the load or go first class and use an article submission service. Whatever method you choose, do it. It is the best way to flood your site with visitors!
