4. What is keyword prominence
5. Site construction to be search engine friendly

What Else is Search Engine Optimization? The Secret to Search Engine Traffic

We’ve talked about SEO and search engine traffic before. But like when I was in the Navy, we emphasized repetition of skills and basics to make advanced tactics work the impression of ease. This is a long post, but I didn’t want to break it up. I am going to violate “the rules” and overwhelm you with content. So let’s get started with a closer look…

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a term widely used by anyone trying to make money online and build a real online profit machine. All of you know that search engines are the most common place for people to go to find the online information they want so bad. And if you are on the first page of the results, you are front page news to the searcher.

It’s not a secret that most people rely on the top ten results (the first page) of the search they just requested. If your site comes up on a desired search in the top ten, then WHAMO you get FREE targeted web traffic straight from the search engine. You didn’t pay a dime!

So I will state the obvious in case it didn’t sink in: You and your website or blog have a bazillion times higher chance of being clicked if you appear on the first page of the search engine results. And this traffic is COMPLETELY targeted for you – if you did your SEO correctly.

Are you still following me? Now this is a fact, once you are there (on the first page results) you must hold on to your ranking. You cannot, and will not stay on top if you don’t keep your website up-to-date and optimized.

What people search for changes over time, and how search engines search also changes. Plus, new players constantly enter you niche! It is imperative to make your site better and better everyday.

Are you still questioning whether you need to use search engine optimization? Well, I’ll give you my bottom line: You need Search Engine Optimization if you want to maximize profit and keep your costs low. Ignore it and you’ll pay through the teeth. It’s that simple. It’s your choice.

With a solid search engine optimization effort, you get the benefit of “magically” attracting high volume targeted traffic. Using the best choice of keywords and keyword phrases you can get hundreds of visitors a day to your blog or website.

If you only convert 1 or 2 percent of these free, highly targeted visitors, you will still be making a profit – remember, you didn’t pay for these buyers. They found you because you did your SEO basics correctly – up front, not as an afterthought.

So what else is SEO? It’s using the right methods, and employing the right tools to keep your blog or website on the first page of the search engines. Now here is another fact: it is neither impossible nor highly difficult. Just get the right knowledge and tools.

In an earlier post, I showed you a method for finding keywords that can get you lots of traffic and put you on the first page of Google in record time – even in the most competitive niches. It’s back in the section about creating content. I hope you paid attention. If not, go back and re-read it.

Getting there and then in the top half, and then staying in the top half guarantees targeted viewers become targeted traffic in high numbers.

If your content is good, they become very loyal and very much, paying followers.

As you start learning your necessary – even mandatory – search engine optimization skills, there is one way I know to start your blog site on automatic. If you are building a blog – and you should be (remember the this post?) then you must get this plug in now. No excuses, it’s free and it works…

Free SEO Plugin

For the fruits of your efforts to “search engine optimize” you have to learn the basics and then maintain an ongoing effort. Your site has to change as public focus changes and as the search engine mechanics change. Your keyword phrases must be updated and your content must be refreshed.

Periodically rewriting your site content with the updated keywords and adjustments for change in search engine activity will be a big part of your site getting to the top and staying there. The rules will change and so must your blog or website if the targeted free traffic is to keep coming.

So lend me your ear, and take note of this fact: you don’t have to be a technical expert, or computer whiz to learn enough SEO to keep your blog and target for tons of web traffic. The single source I know works for everyone is by a SEO expert that knows more about making it easy than anyone I know.

She is Pat Marcello, and she is not a computer whiz or techno geek. But, in her steady efforts to become a master blogger she mastered SEO and search engine traffic in a way that you and anyone can understand – and she will teach it to you.

If you really want to understand Search Engine Optimization from an expert who is really just like you check out Pat Marcello here:

Remember also what I told you earlier about building one-way links to your site. This link building is part of your SEO efforts as well. I won’t explain it here, that is not what this is about. I just mention it again, to remind you that there is a lot more to SEO than just a few keywords.

Inbound links, from relevant sites is essential to your success.

If you are a more advanced reader and need a resource to automate inbound links to your site, then here is the resource that I use on many of my sites:

Massive Inbound Links

As you saw when we started this post, you realized this is about why you need SEO. I hope it sinks in. I started without using any search engine optimization and I paid the price. Learn and use the techniques from the start, and your search engine traffic will start early and stay with you for life.

What better thing than to have major companies like Google, Yahoo, and MSN give you free targeted traffic for life. Learn how to get it from the start.

Search Engine Optimization and Your Search Engine Traffic

What the heck is search engine optimization? That’s what I thought when I first heard the term. I tried looking it up and found people chatting about technical mumbo jumbo I never heard of. So I quickly tossed it aside and figured I needed to do other stuff.

The bad news is – I never should have ignored it. Completely ignoring SEO or search engine optimization cost me many months of opportunity. Had I spent just a little time upfront, getting the basics done right, my blog and online business would have blossomed many months sooner, if not a year sooner.

As more and more sites learn how to do SEO correctly, you don’t need to get lost in the rankings because you failed to do a few simple things. SEO doesn’t have to be difficult.

Reader Request – Where Do I Start for Blog Traffic and Targeted Web Traffic

Many readers have asked similar questions.  Maggie wrote:  I would like to get my new websites off the ground and running. I need help. The other site is www.spiritualhealthandwellbeing.com …

This is a rather vague question.  I can’t look at a website and know what you need help with in regard to getting targeted website traffic.  But the underlying theme seems to be with many, is how do I get my site moving?

Getting blog traffic and targeted traffic to any website is the starting point for your business.  There are many other elements to deal with, but in this blog, getting targeted traffic is what I focus on.

If you have roamed through this blog, you know well that I subscribe to the known fact that a WordPress blog is a must have targeted traffic magnet for any — I repeat — ANY online niche business.  That is why I created the FREE video training The Great Traffic Experiment.

If you haven’t done the basics covered in The Great Traffic Experiment then you are missing out on an extremely low cost, easy way to get targeted traffic coming to you in your niche.

The Great Traffic Experiment covers not only setting up your WordPress blog, but also:

  • Things not do when you are getting started
  • Three simple strategies to start targeted traffic fast
  • Developing a targeted website traffic plan
  • and much, much more…

Other elements not covered in this blog or the Great Traffic Experiment include

There are other things I don’t cover, but the links above are some of the best resources available that I actually use for success.  For those that have the same question as I got from Maggie and others – that is basically, where do I start? – You must start by being setup properly for targeted web traffic and blog traffic if you want everything else to progress.

If you are just starting, and you are expecting a new website or blog to be up today and getting thousands of visitors tomorrow for free (or even paid for that matter), then you have to change your approach and get a real plan for progress in creating search engine traffic and targeted traffic.  It isn’t an overnight thing.

Am I too blunt?  Tell me what you think below.  I want your opinions, your concerns.  Are you afraid to make a comment?

I look forward to hearing from you

Reader Request – Microsoft Adlabs and Search Engine Traffic Research

Jason asked: What do you think about using Microsoft AdLabs Commercial Intention Tool and how much weight would you put in what this tool is telling us?

Watch this short video on Microsoft Alabs Commercial Intention Tool and Search Engine Traffic:

I will be the first to admit, that in my journey to find search engine traffic, I had not come across this Microsoft Adlabs and its various tools, much less the commercial intent tool.

I find that the commercial intent tool, in doing research to improve your search engine optimization for targeted internet traffic is probably a pretty good aide.  It wouldn’t be a starting point for me.

I would still start with my Firefox browser and the PPC Webspy add in tool.  Number 1, it’s free.  Number 2, it let’s me see instantly what my competition is doing.  Adlabs tools don’t do that.

I would then be using my primary keyword tool, Mirco Niche Finder to further refine keywords.  Then after that, I will likely add a look at Adlabs Commercial Intent Tool.  The reason is simple, neither of the previous two tools will tell you if anyone really uses the word for commercial intent.  Microsoft Adlabs seemed to do this well.

So, the commercial intent tool, for the moment, gets my thumbs up as a targeted traffic and search engine traffic keyword enhancer.  You should probably use it to assist your decisions.

I wasn’t so impressed with the other tools.  But the other Adlabs tools can also be of benefit in your decision making.  You will really have to decide if you have time to use all of these tools.

That’s all for now.  Tell me what you think?  Is this a good tool for your keyword reasearch?  Will it help you improve your quest for search engine traffic?

- Wayne Sharer

P.S.  There still seems to be a lot of niche marketers ignoring the best free keyword tool ever made.  I am not sure why, but if you aren’t using PPC Webspy, then you should feel left out in the cold, and in the dark every time you turn on your Firefox browser and do a Google search.  You miss so much by saying no to a great free keyword tool.
