Just Plain Stupid Rantings

Thanks for coming back to YourTrafficStarterBlog. You don't have to guess if I updated, just subscribe to my RSS feed. Don't forget to leave a comment!

I’ve been told more than once that I use the word “stupid” much too often.

It’s true.  When I see something stupid, I call it “stupid” without hesitation.  That’s pretty much the way I am about everything.  I call a rock a rock, a good a idea a “good idea”, and stupid – well, I call it “stupid.”

I do get frustrated when people repeatedly do the same stupid things.  No doubt about that.  At the point where a person keeps doing the same dumb thing over and over, I do have start believing they aren’t just stupid, but they are really clueless.

So if you are ready to get all steamed up at me, continue on, and don’t hesitate to leave your comments before you go.

What Really is Stupid

To me, stupid isn’t about intelligence.  The fact is, I do stupid things, and very smart people do very stupid things.  I try to avoid stupid things when building my business, as I do when just simply living my life.  But I’m not perfect, so I accept that I will do some stupid things (just not as many dumb moves as many others).

Stupid isn’t about education.  Very educated people do very stupid things.  Problem is, we let them get away with it because we will actually believe that it can’t be stupid if this very educated person says to do it.  Am I wrong?

Of course, there are those of you that will say I’m wrong, because you live in an imaginary world where you will believe stupid things just because “an expert” told you.  Sorry — like I said, I will call a slug a “slug” without hesitation.

Stupid Things That Prove a Point

Sunday Rantings Anything but Targeted Traffic

1 Little Secret to Success

I spent some time yesterday going through my blog traffic logs and looking at the websites that have been spamming me.  It sounds like a weird thing to do, but any blogger knows as you get more and more traffic, you get more and more spammers.

I do things like — when I find a site that is spoofing or stealing a legitimate business site, I look up the spoofer, I get the contact info of the real site, and I send an email to the real site owner to let them know about it.

Why do this?

I’m trying to build a legitimate, helpful, useful business.  If someone was doing this to me, I would hope the person who discovers it would tell me.  It’s one of the many reasons I put my real name, and real contact info on every website I create.

The reasons for all of this go much deeper than this.  Since it is my Sunday ranting time, here is just a little more on why this is all very important to me, and why it should be important to you…

Nothing to do with Targeted Traffic

Working to create your own business is a very challenging task.  Not just getting targeted traffic, but surviving all the steps of getting to the point of success and freedom (particularly when you start with nothing).

I spent 8 hours a day working in a retail store just to ensure I could create enough money to build a business, one step at a time.  I will say up front that I’m not putting down people that work in retail stores.  In fact, I am really empathizing with them.

I grew up with the ideas and respect for people hammered into me, almost literally.  I never knew that people do the things they do, until I worked so hard in a retail store, making a low salary, and regularly being attacked by rude, condescending, customers.  It really was so very upsetting to me.

I am 50 years old, and to have people come in the door that are say – 25 years old -and start talking down to you like they are your mother or grandmother, or like you are their pet or just a moron that couldn’t possibly know anything is very upsetting.

faceThose that say that it isn’t upsetting really are just hiding their feelings.  These people that do these things are represent a small percentage of the population.  Thank God for that!  But they would absolutely ruin my day.

One day, a young lady came in, maybe 25 years old.  She wanted a service that she considered insignificant so thought therefore I should do it for free.  Of course, she doesn’t consider the fact that we had 1000 customers a month wanting the same service.

At the same time, I was busy processing a customers requirements.  As soon as she heard she had to pay $2.00 for the service (which she really should have done on her own), her face goes to a mean frown, and she starts the condescending attacks.

I shouldn’t have to pay for that…. yada, yada, yada.  At the same time, I am trying to complete the service for the “paying customer” and she starts barking, “you need to look at me.”  I said, “ma’am, can’t you see that I am busy doing something that needs my attention?”

She barks at me again, “You need to make eye contact with me.  I shouldn’t have to pay for this.”

I said, “That service costs $2.00 or you can take care of it on your own, those are the options.”  Mind you, I never raised my voice – just stated the facts.

She quickly furthers the attack telling me how rude I am, and that people have no respect anymore.

Can you imagine!  This kind of ridiculous attack goes on all the time in retail stores.  It upsets me so much, because I don’t have the ability to lash out at people because they request payment for services, and then start putting them down.  I simply can’t do it.

When these things happen (and much worse happens, believe me), I cry on the inside, my hands shake, and I really don’t know what to do.

These great moments in working to create my business motivated me to endlessly work to create a business that generates tons of cash, so I can give people jobs, build my Parrish church, and live comfortably where I don’t have to deal with people like the retail store demons above.

What motivates you to keep going?  You must have something, or you’ll never make it to the top.

What’s Your Plan – Beyond Targeted Traffic

What’s the worst position you ever found yourself in?…

I mean, in terms of the status of your life and where you are going?

Let me tell you about someone I know…

suitcaseThree and a half years ago he was walking down the streets of Washington DC.  He had barely a thing to his name.  He had with him a suitcase, and a box on one of those luggage dollies… you know, the kind you take your luggage around the airport with.

He had just been feeling really fortunate.  Everything he owned was in the suitcase and the box.  And he had found an apartment in the basement of a building (if you want to call that an apartment).

He had no furniture, no blankets, no pots, no pans, no dishes, no eating utensils, nothing at all… except what was in the suitcase and the box.

His family knew he might need some help, but wouldn’t even offer a pillow or a bed even for one night.

But he was happy, and confident.

How is this possible?  He had no money, no car, no credit, no savings, no job… only a suitcase and a box.

Inside that box was a notebook.  Inside that notebook was a business plan.  It was a plan for a multi-million dollar company.  The plan had been written on notebook paper, by hand.  No computer, no automated spreadsheets.  No sir!  It was all written out by hand.

If anyone had stopped him and asked what was in the box, he never would have mentioned the business plan.  They would have looked at him and nodded with a fake smile… and thought to themselves, “he’s nuts!”

He had survived the three worst years of his life with no support, no help, no nothing.  Most would say they would die.  He didn’t.

Instead, he wrote a business plan for a multi-million dollar company!

Now he was starting on the path to make it real.  He didn’t always know the next step.  But what he did was, he always took a next step … even in the shadow of doubt.

And slowly, very slowly, his plan started taking effect.  One small step at a time.  A set back here, times of bad feelings there, but overall, kept taking one step at a time, over and over again.

Today, he has a business.  It is not yet a multi-million dollar business, but everyday it gets several steps closer.

Why?  Because his dream was not just a dream.  It was a vision of reality.  It was the reality he set to build, and build it he did it with faith, determination and perseverance.

What’s your story?  What’s holding you back?  Why aren’t you making progress?  What are you doing about it?

Your reality is determined by YOU!  No one else… just you.

YourTrafficStarterBlog is about one piece of the plan.  A very critical piece… targeted traffic.  You need it, or you have nothing.  To make it work, you have to go at it, one step at a time with faith, determination and perseverance.

Honest Rambling on Sunday

Have you ever had a time when you just wondered if you could really persevere long enough to accomplish your goals?  You know, just thought that everything is getting too difficult to do?

That happens to me  a lot.

Like today, I was at church, and the pastor was talking about people giving and bringing  joy to others.  He created 4 fictitious people to with stories that could be about anyone.

…And he had one of them have a breakthrough in their life.

I know creating the break through can be very difficult.  When you are at rock bottom, like Danny and I were 3 and half years ago.  Then we started our business.

Now it’s about reaching our goals, and often feeling like we aren’t accomplishing them quick enough for other people.

This feeling looms because one of our main goals is to provide opportunity for as many people as we possibly can.

But while you are trying to get over the edge, and create enough time in the day to make that kind of lofty goal a reality, there comes times when you really don’t believe you will ever get there.

That’s’ how I felt, even today, as the pastor was speaking.  Like I still wasn’t doing my share.  I could just give up, but that wouldn’t help anyone, not even myself.

So, I looked inside, and searched again for the next stop to bring my business to the next level.

I am working the plan hard, and like Mike Filsaime says,  just keep making the small changes, because like the butterfly on the flower flapping its wings, you just don’t know for sure when the little stirring of the air will produce big results.

So I am working hard to create TrafficStrarterPro.com, a website to teach everyone I can exactly how to get targeted traffic moving to y0ur website as quick as possible.

This is key to building your list, and making sales so you can realize your goals.

I look forward to helping as many as I can.

Have a great week

- Wayne
